Hardfacing electrodes are designed to give a quick-freezing deposit which helps when working along edges, but paradoxically the weld pool tends to be wide.
This makes working away from the flat rather tricky; use the shortest arc, lowest current and fastest travel consistent with good fusion to control the pool.
